Webshop project with award

After several years of intensive collaboration between Steinbacher Energie and the web agency FALKEmediaThe development of a new homepage, including a web shop, has now been recognised with 2nd place in the Austria-wide Constantinus Awards honoured.

In most cases, successful digitalisation and process optimisation are anything but simple and quick projects. We are delighted to have found a reliable partner in the web agency FALKEmedia, based in Waidhofen/Ybbs.

The roles in the team were quickly defined and a fruitful co-operation began. While the Steinbacher team took care of the basic concept development, layout and design of the homepage, the technical realisation was expertly managed by FALKEmedia. 

The completion of a new homepage was only the first step. The longer-term goal was to integrate a web shop with real-time data synchronisation.

Challenges on the road to success

Following the launch of the project From catalogue to B2B webshop the participants quickly realised where the challenges lay. 

For the constant synchronisation of tens of thousands of products, the Programming a customised interface with the existing ERP programme. 

The solution to be developed therefore had to integrate perfectly into existing systems and workflows. At the same time, it was necessary to ensure a structured transfer to the "front end", for which in-house expertise had to be combined with external technical implementation. 

Good listening skills and a deep understanding of the customer's processes are the most important prerequisites for successful digitalisation.

Conceptualisation and prioritisation

Of course, there were a lot of questions at the beginning: 

Where do we start? Where are the priorities?
How can compatibility with existing processes be achieved?
How can the greatest possible efficiency be ensured in all of this?

And the most important question of all: Will the solution be accepted by customers?

It was particularly important to us that the website and online shop reflect the company culture and tradition. Many services were and are therefore provided in-house.

Current stock levels and prices around the clock

For decades, the company had been known in the industry for its carefully designed print catalogues. However, the turbulent developments on the international commodities market in recent years and changing user habits (more online than print) had made the far-reaching innovation, i.e. the online shop with up-to-date price information for registered users, unavoidable. 

The positive feedback from customers after the go-live ultimately made the project team breathe a sigh of relief!

The innovation results in several Advantages for users

At first glance, the web shop appears "inconspicuous". Many details and automated processes remain hidden from visitors.
  • After successful Log-in with user key customers are now able to see the accurrent net prices of individual products, as well as the information as to whether the respective goods are currently in stock and can therefore be delivered quickly. 
  • One order can directly online be placed via the shopping basket. 
  • The Watch list function offers the option of saving certain products for later.

Further steps planned

The motto for all steps was always: functionality has top priority. Further points, which include even greater user-friendliness and better information for customers, are planned and will be implemented step by step over the next few years.
